Prescription Policy
All prescriptions from Animal Health Center require what we call a Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). This means that your pet should have an established care regimen by one of our doctors within the last 12 months, be up-to-date with vaccines, and both the client and veterinarian are on the same page about the patient’s well-being. Please allows 48-hour notice for all prescription requests. Animal Health Center stocks a limited quality of some of our most common medications. For long-term medications, we recommend having them auto-shipped from our online pharmacy. For prescription diets, we recommend Hills To Home delivery service. We would be happy to assist in getting you started with home delivery prescriptions! You may purchase your pet’s medication, flea, tick, heartworm prevention, or prescription diet from a third-party online pharmacy. There are many online pharmacies to choose from. Therefore we do not recommend any pharmacy over the other. We do not receive mail, fax, call in, or email prescriptions to online pharmacies other than our own. If you wish to utilize a different pharmacy, you must pick up a written prescription and send it to the pharmacy of your choice by whatever communication method they prefer.

Appointment Policy
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment only. Emergency cases are always prioritized, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we sincerely attempt to see each client on time.

For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A ‘drop off means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually, we will ask you to drop off sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done, she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and give you discharge instructions.

Requirements for a pet to be an in-patient are rabies vaccination, distemper vaccination, and flea prevention.

Drop-off and surgical appointments require a treatment plan signature and deposit.

As of July 2020, we have decided to limit new patients to serve our long-term clients better. Due to Covid-19 and area/local clinics closing or altering hours, we have an influx of new clients and patients. We would be happy to refer sick patients to a 24-hour referral hospital where you can seek quality care. Our doctors have been working hard and even extended hours to see as many patients as possible in recent months. Our doctors will see existing appointments, and new updates will be posted regarding this policy change. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

No Show Policy
We ask for 24 hours notice if you must cancel an appointment. For surgical charges, we ask for a 48-hour cancellation notice. (These appointments are costly if canceled at the last minute.) A late cancellation fee may be applied to your account for last-minute cancellations.

Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash, and personal checks for your convenience. We also accept CareCredit, which allows clients to make interest-free payments, and Scratchy Pay, a personal loan. There is a $25 returned check fee, and we will no longer accept checks if a prior check has been returned unsettled. Thanks for your understanding.

Patient Arrival Policy
For your protection and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.

All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or leash.
